HQI Conference to Feature Expert Speakers, Share Strategies to Improve Patient Outcomes

The 2019 Hospital Quality Institute Conference — themed Respect, Reliability, Resilience — features sessions on the most critical issues facing quality and patient safety leaders and professionals. The premiere event for advancing patient safety and quality initiatives will be held Oct. 14-15 in Sacramento.

Attendees will hear from patient safety experts across the country and take home tools for transforming care, leading reliability, and delivering value to every person, every time, in every community. Speakers will share research and experiences that have changed cultures and led to quantifiable improvements in patient outcomes.

The conference features a day of keynote and general sessions followed by a half-day of breakout sessions. First-day topics include:

  • the science of enhancing resilience
  • exploring the new role of infection prevention
  • building the culture of safety
  • advancing health equity, and
  • reconnecting to purpose

Day two includes a half day of three tracks of breakout sessions, with three options each, including addressing racial disparities in maternal outcomes, communicating with families when patients have experienced harm, reducing opioid overdoses, health equity, understanding variations in data, and improving outcomes with family-centered rounds.

Plus, more than 25 posters will highlight quality and patient safety success stories, with case study details, critical success factors and tips for sustaining improvements in patient safety clearly presented. The winner of the C. Duane Dauner Quality Award will also be profiled.
