Patient Safety Organizations were created to facilitate the
collection and analysis of incident data as a means to identify
and create better ways of delivering quality care to
patients. However, PSOs will only be successful in this
mission if they have active engagement and participation from
their member hospitals.
During the Second Annual Meeting April 8-9, 2013, California
Hospital Patient Safety Organization (CHPSO) Executive Director
Dr.Rory Jaffe introduced the Vanguard Award to recognize members
who are following through with their commitment by submitting
incident data and consistently participating in patient safety
initiatives and learning opportunities.
It is only through the commitment of organizations like these
that we can succeed in eliminating preventable patient harm.
